Fluency Passages

Your child will be bringing home a passage each week. This passage will last for a whole week. Please take the time to listen to your child read it to you EACH NIGHT and initial in the box provided. On Friday's I will time them for 1 minute to see how well they have practiced the passage.
The purpose is to improve reading fluency. I have read lots of research on this subject, and with increased practice comes improved fluency levels. Your child will need to read the entire passage each night. Please help them sound the words they need help with. You will notice they will read smoother or with more fluency each night.
Your child will receive a new passage every Monday or the 1st day of the new week.

Amazing Words

The Amazing words listed on the back of the blue newsletter are words that will be used in the story this week. They will not be tested on. The only words that need to be studied are the Vocabulary words and the Spelling Words. :-)

Math Facts

I have started timing the students on their addition facts. We are learning different strategies so that we can achieve this time drill. Please work with your child at home with this time drill.
